For baby, boys & girls, Kidscase is a recent fav. More for their tempered color choices (if Daddy would wear it, it's good enough for the boys)... definitely not for their price point(s). Oh well.

Somewhat random, but worthwhile, plug for a good cause giveaway. Try for a baby-wearing prize & contribute to one man's fight against cancer. Rather lovely, to the eye & the soul.

Last night we Netflixed Wild Target, a well-chosen whim. Ridiculous. And Rose's wardrobe is SO delightful. Give it a go next time you're craving a comedy. But don't watch the trailer first; it ruins the loveliness.

It's cold. And wet. Making me want to wear scarves. Around my neck. On my head to cover the ears. And then I saw this great chart, of suggestions & general silliness. If only such accessories were safe from the clutches of a snuggle bug who likes to grace mama with his open mouth kisses.

the Christmas vest
From an online pattern, hopefully not the last we'll have made since this will obviously not fit next winter. It's my fav because of the masculine shape, the buttons require no pulling over the head, warm enough for car rides, doesn't restrict arm movement. Thanks, Grandma!

Moving furniture around. Throwing/giving things away. Ferocious editing of household. In love with handmade tunics, baby mukluks, giant antique feather dusters, supply pouches! It's still snowy. I.am.nesting.

Friends, I have been in denial. For many a year I feigned indifference toward fashion trends, secretly reading my roommate's mags & watching Project Runway, gleaning hand-me-downs from friends who had "the eye." My annoyance with store shopping & the "help" of sales associates deceived me, but no more. Not only do I love catalogs & online browsing, Etsy & the like, I also covet the drama & risk of pieces that border on being a costume. Saturated tones, tailored pleats & collars, chunky rings, patterned tights & leggings, an array of handbags & purses. I want to adopt Nana's vocabulary of always calling them trousers, gowns, blouses & frocks.

sweater hats
So I have this sweater. It's from the closet swap, on the "barely fits" side from the outset, definitely shrunk & felted itself (J Crew, Merino wool) & has a hole in one sleeve. Today I remembered about the Family Sweater Hats project from Handmade Home

This lady is genius, & I want some harem pants like these: with muted tones, subtle texture & tiny buttons. Rolling her eyes at pricey fashion, Renske Solkesz resolved to only wear clothes she designs and makes herself. So she blogs about it, sells via Etsy & recently wrote a diy for the simplest tote that closes automatically when you lift it by the strap!

Also wanting to dye my hair with henna, which turns out auburn & gracefully fades.

Wishing I didn't crochet like a left-handed knitter. Alas, felting is much harder than I can perhaps endure.
